During this webinar we will hear three different presentations on topics relating to increasing the diversity of perspectives that are taken into account in cycle planning, with a focus on children’s, seniors’ and modified bike users’ points of view.

Students as traffic experts, Johan Heichelmann, Trafik i Børnehøjde (Denmark)
Johan Heichelmann of the social enterprise Trafik i Børnehøjde (traffic at children’s eye level) in Denmark will share his experiences of working with a method for student involvement in traffic projects with a focus on traffic problems around schools. Based on Trafik i Børnehøjde’s experience of working with over 120 schools over the past 11 years, he will outline processes for user-driven innovation in schools and give examples of the development of temporary physical facilities and how these are combined with student-driven behavioral campaigns.
How to involve senior users and increase their share on city bikes? Silja Ngobese, Valonia (Finland)
We will also hear from Silja Ngobese from Valonia, a centre for sustainable development and energy in Southwest Finland, on Valonia’s work with the GreenSAM (Green Silver Age Mobility) project. This autumn they are piloting a mentoring model between youths and senior citizens as a participatory tool to increase seniors’ use of public transportation and city bikes in the Turku region. Silja will present the findings and experiences of the pilot so far, focusing on the “Youth as mentors for seniors on city bikes” trial.
Inclusive planning and policy for modified bike users, Björn Billung, arm cycle advocate (Sweden)
Björn Billung, arm-cycle advocate from Sweden will discuss how cycle infrastructure can be made more accessible for users of modified bicycles, such as e-arm cycles, wheelchair bikes, tricycles and cargobikes. He will present his perspectives on the benefits of using an e-arm cycle for transportation as a person living with disabilities, as well as some of the challenges many modified bike users face in their daily travels, both in the built environment and in navigating social policies related to transportation for people with disabilities.
